Many Mini Modern Block 3: Pogo Stick

Block 3 for the 3MB is here!

Pogo Stick was designed by Jessica Brown who blogs over at Just Give it A Go but since having a very adorable baby girl, there hasn’t been a lot of activity.  Well, activity on her blog that is…I’m sure she’s got her hands full!  Jessica has some great tutorials on her blog, including this one for state luggage tags…just too cute!

Here’s the reduced cutting dimensions for a 6 1/2″ finished block.

From Fabric A cut the following:

(1)   2 1/2″ x 3″ strip
(2)   1 1/2″ x 4″ strips
(2)   2 3/4″ x 3 1/8 strips

From Fabric B cut the following:

(2)   1 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ strips
(2)   1 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ strips
(1)   1 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ strip
(1)   1 1/4″ x 6 1/2″ strip

Here’s the finished block:

Fabrics used include:
Lizzy House- Castle Peeps
Kate Spain- Fandango

Be sure to add your blocks to the Flickr group and stay tuned for the next block on Sunday!

Day 5: 12 Days of Christmas Crafty Crap

Ok, so I know that it’s technically day 6, but I really did finish this project yesterday, but it was already dark when I was done and we had some Christmas parties to hop on over to, so no pictures until earlier today.

This quilt was made using Kate Spain Fandango charm packs (4 in total) and was also my first attempt at a pieced back and free motion quilting.  I wouldn’t really call the quilting “stippling” but more like crazy quilting…that free motion foot has a mind of it’s own!  I don’t think I’ll be trying FMQ on a whole quilt again until I can practice on some smaller projects…mug rugs and doll quilts here I come!

Anyhow, here’s the finished project:

Down the Rabbit Hole…

One of these days, I would love to meet the genius behind charm packs.  Those adorable little squares just scream my name each and every time I walk into a quilt shop.

Currently, my Moda charm pack collection includes:

Kate Spain’s Terrain
French General’s Panier de Fleurs
Kate Spain’s Central Park
Keiki’s Oops-a-Daisy
Fig Tree’s Buttercup
Kate Spain’s Fandango
Deb Strain’s Cherish Nature
Fig Tree’s Whimsy

Even as I list them out, I can think of about a dozen more I want to add to my collection and am still amazed at just how long the list is already.  It’s definitely time for my first ever quilt and I think these charm squares will do just the trick!

I purchased the patternA Sunday Charmer from Sweet Jane on Etsy.  Super cute and super easy, it calls for just two charm packs and a yard of background fabric (plus backing and binding of course).  So, off I went to join the land of quilters (it’s a great one, don’t you think?) and down the rabbit hole I fell…
