It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I have to confess…Black Friday is my MOST FAVORITE holiday of the year!  The quilty bargains in my hometown are not to be missed either!  I’m putting together a map to plan my day on Black Friday:

1. 6 AM: JoAnn Fabrics for $1.49/yd flannel solids.  I love to use flannel for quilt backs because it gives them such a soft cozy feel and a little more weight…and at $1.49…I just might buy everything they have in stock!

4. 9 AM: (yes, that’s right, I’m anticipating 3 hours at my friendly neighborhood JoAnn’s…that cutting counter line is usually something else)  Sew to Speak, which is by far my favorite little shop in town.  I don’t know if they’ll have any Black Friday specials, but they are opening early…so here’s hoping 🙂

3. 10 AM: A great little shop in my neighborhood, Red Rooster Quilts is offering 25% off any one item, just in time for me to purchase backing for the quilt I’m making my parents for Christmas using Fandango charm squares.

4. 11 AM: Heading over to Quilt Beginnings to take advantage of 40% off any one item…hmm…to buy fabric or a new foot for my awesome sewing machine?  I must remember to bring my tote bag too…$1.50 fat quarters for the bag ladies!

Then I’ll be rounding out the day with a Friday Sew-in at Quilt Trends.  I’m going to do my best to wait until Saturday to buy anything from there, when all of their holiday fabric is 40% off, the entire store is 15% off AND Sue, the sweetest store owner in town, will be showing off some of the goodies from Quilt Market earlier this month.

So as to not leave you with any inspiration, check out the wine gift bag I made before dinner tonight to take along for tomorrow’s delicious turkey festivities.  This was made using a handy dandy “Charming Wine Gift Bag” tutorial from Moda Bake Shop courtesy of ReannaLily Designs .  This couldn’t have been easier to make and the results are too cute in Moda’s Buttercup charm pack.  You need just 9 charms to make 1 bag, so I picked out the browns from the pack for a fall themed gift bag.

Here’s to a Thanksgiving Day filled with turkey, time with family, and dreams of the Black Friday bargains to come!

I’m late…I’m late…I’m late…for a very important date!

Alright, so it’s not technically Monday any more, but starting a post at 12:15 AM is well-intentioned, right?  So what’s this date I’m late for?  Well…Gen X Quilters has created this great “Charmed Prints” QAL…and is hosting a Monday linky party.  With Thanksgiving and Black Friday just a few days away, who isn’t in the mood for a party?

I have to admit, my charmed prints quilt has suffered greatly due to my type A personality.  I’ve been fussing with my fabric selections over and over again and FINALLY I’m happy with the choices.  I’m using a Remix charm pack (by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman) and some coordinating fabrics in orange, red, blue, and green.  I love the striped fabric for the quilt backing too!

I’m now playing a game of catch-up in an attempt to get back on track for the QAL.  Last week’s blocks were the Star block and the Greek Cross.  I was able make 3 additional star blocks tonight and kept one of my original blocks (the owl accented with orange below).

It’s better late than never, I suppose, to join a linky party.  I just need to be sure I’m not late to grab those Black Friday bargains in just a few days!  Thanks for hopping over to visit my blog.  As you can see, I’m just getting started and always looking to meet new online friends!

Happy Monday…err Tuesday!

Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!

“…before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it.  There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, “Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it’s getting!”

So….it’s 2:00 in the morning.  I’ve not been to sleep yet tonight.  I think I’m on a quilty high 🙂  Why, you say?  What could keep one awake until all hours of the night?  I’ll give you a hint…I don’t have a newborn.

BUT, I do have a new baby!  Earlier this week, I bought a new sewing machine.   It’s a huge upgrade from my old machine and I can’t “seam” to stop sewing.  It’s like I hear the siren call of my machine, waiting patiently for my return to the office.

Could you resist the siren call if you went from this:

Loving my new Pfaff Ambition 1.5 🙂  Hopefully, I’ll be able to fall asleep soon, but likely my dreams will be filled with quilty uses for my new machine.

If you know Time as well as I do….

“If you know Time as well as I do,” said the Hatter, ” you wouldn’t talk about wasting it.”
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll

Well, apparently I don’t know Time as the Mad Hatter suggests.  Here I’ve set out to start blogging about my adventures in fabricland, but haven’t quite figured out how to fit this into my busy schedule.  In a desperate attempt to get caught up, I warn you now…many updates soon to come!
